    Map Finder Help

Reinstalling Civ4 or the Map Finder? In either case, no. What's the idea behind reinstalling?

    Map Finder Help

Someone posted earlier about BtS being greyed out in the menu, but was never answered as far as I can tell. Is this a known issue, and if so, is there a resolution?Civ4MapFinder-NoBtS by misterfilmgeek posted May 21, 2020 at 8:16 AM My manually added reg entry (I have the Steam version). Do I...

[BTS] Getting better at early rushes [Emperor]

I'm a solid Monarch player, rarely losing, but I generally take until Cuirs/Cav to win. I tend to play Epic/Large/Fractal maps, so that explains some of it, but I suck at early rushing (Axe/Chariot/HA/etc...). I always want to favor capitol/empire growth (while still using the whip) that early...

    [BTS] So Many Floodplains!

Thanks for all of the advice! I had planned to get back to this sooner, but life. I'll post a save tonight. Settings are Monarch, Big and Small, Epic speed, No Huts/Events, Aggressive AI, 7 Opponents (as opposed to 6), and locked modified assets is off. I'll figure out how to get a WB save so...

    [BTS] So Many Floodplains!

What to do? I fear SiP would make this city a health hazard. 1S seems a bit better with fewer FPs and another forest to chop. This on Monarch, so health is manageable, but I wouldn't want my growth to be hampered early. Any advice? Edit: Save File and World Builder Save File attached...

    G-Major 137

Congratulations! Great finish date. I don't spend 190 hours a year playing Civ IV (well, maybe), so I'm in awe when any of you complete this gauntlet.

    Buying Civ IV on Steam

Why learn to play a game the wrong way? I was "forced" to as I bought each expansion as it came out, but in retrospect I wish it had been BtS the whole way. There is no reason to subject yourself to an inferior version when a superior one is available. It would be like watching Six Samurai or...

    Tech tree questiona

Just to add a bit more pedantry to this discussion, a "ball on a chain" is technically a flail. A mace is just a weighted club.

    Buying Civ IV on Steam

The Complete Edition is the only way to go. Even at $15, it's worth it - just look at the forum activity for a 10 year-old game. Beyond the Sword is the expansion 90+% of people play as it has the best mechanics and support. Don't bother starting out playing the base game - jump right into BtS.

How do I find a certain city?

The event log is the quickest and easiest way (not sure if that's in the base game, though, as I only use BUFFY/BAT/Whatever). I do the same thing, but I try to amuse myself with the names: One Horse Town (never had a Two Horse Town), Fort Knox (multiple golds), Castle Black (Tundra/Ice)...

Using a spreadsheet to calculate something with information freely available in the game is no different than a mod telling you that Athens will become unhappy next turn.

CIV Illustrated #4: "Hybrid Economy" !

Great guide as usual Seraiel, which I rated 5* for you. One minor quibble in the opening sentence of Post #1: A "manor" is a house/estate. You mean "manner".
