@MirrorGuard Alex was pumping out a crazy number of units in my game. Interestingly, he was in a war with Darius of and on for many years and never made much progress. Yet, when I attacked him he still had a massive stack of units. It feels like the AI doesn't fully commit to wars against...
I started the game thinking that I would race to Astronomy and dominate by settling the new world before anyone else got there. I was the first to Optics and fully scouted the New World and then life happened and I knew I wouldn't have enough time in real life to do that. So I decided a bit...
Well done!
All of your research comes from Sushi-powered Representation Scientists, right?
Regarding the strike, how many units do you lose per turn? I'm guessing that you use work boats or is it some other unit?
Knowing the power of Sushi, would you still found Mining before Sushi? Or...
I SIP and it turns out that the capital has too much food (if that's even possible). I think MirrorGuard was on to something when he moved!
I decided for a peaceful start. We were surrounded by a dessert and it felt like expanding peacefully or via conquest would have resulted in a lot of...
@nocho 1780AD sounds like a great date to me on that map. Even with dikes, there were no awesome production cities because every city had at least some water tiles in the BFC that could only produce 1H each (2H in a golden age). With all of the colonial maintenance, I think State Property was...
I decided to build up, albeit slowly, for Domination after 1 AD. First, I got my economy in order by building some infrastructure like courthouses on the islands to get ahead of the massive colonial maintenance cost since every AI was on 1 or more separate continents. My wars were as follows...
Great job getting all of the medals and fastest-finish awards. I don't think that's ever been done before!!
I don't have a preference but RL pleasure trumps spending too much time on Civ IV in my book! After that, I guess I would put BOTM 294 second and results third.
The Good: I managed to settle 2 cities on Shaka's starting "island" and 2 cities on Monty's. I also got the GLH as planned. I decided not to go for the Oracle since we didn't have marble. It went in 675 BC so I wouldn't have gotten it anyway.
The Bad: So far, events have not been good to me...
Up to 1 AD, I had played a peaceful game expanding to 8 (+2 settlers) pretty weak cities. Sure, we had three gold mines and the GLH but that's about it. 2 of my cities were on SB's starting island so at least I was getting decent GLH-powered trade routes. I had also met all of the AI but with...
Thanks for the updates. Does it feel like this game is ahead of your (and WT's) previous attempt? Can you compare this game to these other two games? ;)
