But the floodplains tile still is called 'desert/floodplains'. floodplains is just a terrain feature (as the manual calls it) right? So technically it's still a desert, but with some extra features... ?

What are the exact requirements of building a farm?
I want to build a farm on a desert tile, but the worker just doesn't want to. I have an irrigated farm next to the tile (and Civil Service tech). The same applies to a tundra tile.
I do have a farm on another desert tile, but it has flood...

This was about the special resources. I misunderstood/misread. I had marble in my city borders, but didn't receive the bonus for the parthenon; had to build a road fast! :blush:
I meant C, P and F for Commerce, Production and Food.
But these resource tiles should be in your cultural borders right?

Ok, I'm rather new to Civ IV (played Civ I and maybe 2 when I was a lot younger and didn't exactly know what I was doing strategically) and haven't found a definitive answer to my question in the manual and didn't find it on the forum as of yet too, so here goes for the most nooby questions...
