Tell us the story of your first 1.2 game

No, not really. All the competition from the side of the AI was just gone, and when there's no pressure, the game becomes boring. In Civ IV I have the race and thrill going until or almost until the very end, AI keeps up the pressure and will win if human player slacks. And it can win all...

Tell us the story of your first 1.2 game

Modern update. Well, after all those trials and tribulations of Antiquity and Exploration, in the Modern Age Ada was finally left alone to mind her own business. British Empire under her fired not a single shot, not a single engagement was fought, nothing more was conquered or lost. Just 6 IPs...

Civilization VII Screenshots Thread (Funny, Strange, etc.)

Well, let’s start nagging the devs about adding natural mountain passes to the game

Tell us the story of your first 1.2 game

Exploration update. After I got a narrative event at the start of the age, where my people claimed having a longstanding tradition against despotism and not being used to having a king, after having spent the entire Antiquity under Ada's despotism, which just threw me off, I waited a day or two...

Why era change is so much controversial

Speaking of era/age transitions. This is what I was in Antiquity, in terms of government: And this is what I get to read as narrative upon my transition to Exploration: At this point I could type a lot of text in capital letters, all of which would be not suitable for publishing, but I'll...

Tell us the story of your first 1.2 game

I started a fresh game with Ada of Rome, on everything standard, deity, Fractal map and light disasters. Natural disasters indeed seem to occur at tolerable frequency now, and not every turn even on the light level. And the coastlines became much more interesting. I quickly found myself...

Civ VII Developer Update - April 2025 | Highlights for tomorrow's 1.2.0 update!

So, for this update Ed pulls this card out of his sleeve:  Everything I wanted a couple of months ago when I paid the price, apart from plenty much more than that.

Sid Meier's Civilization® VII - VR Now Available Worldwide

It's clearly not for the external viewer, or streaming. I briefly watched a VR livestream and quit before I became seasick. But you can't really judge the player's experience untill you saw it from "inside" in VR. Still, I do believe that giving us 1st person view first would make a bigger "wow"...

Sid Meier's Civilization® VII - VR Now Available Worldwide

But it was kinda possible in Civ4? There was one parameter to change in a file to enable a key combination for a free camera that you could get down almost to the ground. And I did not care that people were twice as tall as trees :) And that with Civ4 graphics levels. With the amount of detail...

Sid Meier's Civilization® VII - VR Now Available Worldwide

Meanwhile, Anno has had a 3-key combination for some time now, that allows you to go first person and walk the towns you created... just imagine walking those beautiful diorama landscapes on the ground level in Civ7... no Meta or VR equipment required, just pressing a few keys on the keyboard...

Is this what they call a "trade barrier"?

Has anyone been Nuked by the AI?

Are they really? Never seen one! :D Yes, you're right, Civ VII has the most nuke-unfriendly design. Unless the explosion glasses over a few tiles removing buildings (which can't be done?), nuking is meaningless, as you can just buy back population in an instant?

    AI Leader Behaviors

Well, now so pressed I couldn't swear on that, I haven't got any screenshots, I only remember being quite surprised by some declarations from the side of friendly AIs out of the blue, and not as a consequence of some alliance. I'll try to pay more attention. Anyway, I'm very much OK with this...

    AI Leader Behaviors

I've played too few games yet to notice patterns, but it seems that AI leaders have no qualms about DoWing you from Friendly or even Helpful stance. However, if your unit count is respectable, and their's not so much, that seems to guarantee very peaceful ages, even if AI is outright hating you...

    I quit for now

Every iteration after Civ4 struggles very much to gather enough 'x's to get the 4 of them. As for Civ7, the sheen of newness is wearing off extremely fast for me. I'm beginning to suspect it might be even more lame than Civ6. What is the point of continuing to do the turns when you know for...
