I normally try to focus on population growth/food in my capital so all of my guilds go there. I load up all of the specialists except merchants once I have 18+ pop and still try to be growing a little.
Once in a while I find that my capital spot is good but a nearby location would be much...
CiV feels like more like a really complex board game to me than a computer game, which I've grown to quite like. Any one else agree?
If you want to play a large empire then you have to manage your money and happiness appropriately. Rome wasn't built in a day :p and you shouldn't expect to...
I really enjoy checking out other peoples' play throughs. I've watch MadDjinn's and some others. I used to read them when Civ IV was popular, Sistuili(spelling?) was my favorite. He had good pacing and a fun writing style.
I say go for it! I'll check the Stories and Tales forum and have a...
I played a game as the Maya last weekend and holy cow they are strong! Their Pyramid UB(shrine replacement +2 Faith +2 Science) quickly gave me a huge boost in tech and I went with a wide empire to further leverage it. Generating GP's off of the UA just pushed me further ahead.
I like the...
I'm not expert but I am surprised no one mentioned Japan or Germany.
The new combat rules makes Japan's UA much better and come on, Samurai!
Pikemen got a strength buff so Germany's UU is stronger and still half price so you can spam them with the UA's reduced military maintenance and a...
I'm guilty of quitting a game when it looks like I have the win in the bag; but then I go up a difficulty level and get my rear packaged and delivered to my door step.
The espionage system isn't really robust but it is something else to do when I'm at peace and building towards something(war...
Same thing happened to me in my first game of G&K. Admirals should be able to transition to land just like a Great General. As long as their bonuses only apply to naval units I don't see why this would be a good fix.
I don't think this is right, I believe that the pressure number the game shows you is the pressure exerted by the city on the surrounding cities. The reason why I say this is that in a game last night Ethiopia used a Great Prophet to convert my capital/holy city of 20 people to their religion...
I think it is this:
1:c5production: + 4:c5production: is 5:c5production: x 1.15 (workshop bonus) = 5.75:c5production:
Then 5.75:c5production: x rail bonus (50% right?) = 8.62:c5production: for 2:c5gold:
Now someone pipe up and tell me what the bonuses should really be so I can edit this and...
I may be mistaken but I could swear that in my last couple games since the patch the cities have been healing at 5hp per turn. Maybe that had walls and castle already, I was using cannons in both games because I was no where near iron. :(
Hey.
I read an article a couple of weeks ago; can't remember if it was on Gamespy/IGN or a link from another site but the crux was that Valve/Steam were looking into letting users "trade in" games they have purchased on Steam for credit. So you would lose the serial and rights to the game and...
My first Civ was Civ 3 and I felt that way about Civ 4 when it came out and it turned out to be much better after a few patches and two expansions.
We don't have any form of espionage and I have to believe that it is planned for a future expansion.
I have been let down a little bit by Civ 5...
No the camp improvement kept the forest so it still counts; I think that "the wheel" unlocks the trade routes which would explain why it doesn't show up 'til then.
