    Ides of March monthly Challenge

Turn 111 Domination. This ended up being super easy - I way overbuilt my military expecting resistance everywhere (I usually play Deity), and I way overbuilt infrastructure. Mostly I encountered Catapults, and many cities had no units at all. I only recall like 6 Archers, 4 Spears, 3 XBows, and...

What are some of your "civ rituals"?

I don't know if it's a "ritual" - but I absolutely do not play after 8 PM... Pulled too many all-nighters in the early 90s!

City State being attacked by another Civ

(I always trade for 21 of a Strategic Resource if I have none because you will need one extra for healing purposes for some reason!)

City State being attacked by another Civ

It's cheesy, but if there is a CS I really must keep, I will send 6 units to surround the city center tile so the city cannot be captured. Scouts are best, I usually start with 2 most games anyway. Then I send whatever units are nearest to fill in the holes and decide if I want to build more...

    [GS] frigates stuck in city

This is one of those situations in which I would use Firetuner as a workaround. Clearly the design intent of the Wonder is being thwarted. I would delete one Frigate and place another in an empty tile nearby, or do that the next turn, or something.

Refugee from Civ 5 - HELP NEEDED - is there a way to fix this game?

Hey Consentient, good to see you trying VI! Easiest advice I can give is to play Rome. Roads automatically hook up new cites, and the free Monument really helps with culture.

Making the jump from King to emperor

If I go early war, this is usually my route. Play as Nubia and go nuts. Best to save some gold and upgrade Slingers, IMO. A Spearman is nice but don't wait for it. You can really level up PArchers fast. (Obviously these work better in flat terrain.) Even better if you get DOW'd, and they expend...

What do you do to keep interest in game?

Mods mainly. Absolutely need access to large maps, and easier polar sailing, so Yet (not) Another Maps Pack is a must. Exploration, solving city layout, Barb defense and then Barb hunting, racing for Lux and Resources, and creating strong defensive positions are all satisfying to me. What is not...

Projecting Military Force on Continents Map

Nice work - If you keep conquering you will want to keep leap-frogging Governors there. (Btw, I've always assumed it should be Inquisitor 1st to remove foreign religion, then Missionary to spread yours, at least that's what I do.)

Projecting Military Force on Continents Map

I have found the easiest approach is to play as Gitjara, and use Jongs to transport military and civilian (and religious?) units across the map quickly. They pack a huge punch to quickly knock out coastal cities, and a couple Settlers can start new cities if needed. You can also set up really...

[R&F] Is it worth building Temple of Artemis if you can?

Yes, Monarchy gives Housing per level of Wall. I often build walls in every city, and increase the levels at certain times with Limes... It becomes a little mini-game, to squeeze out as much Wall as possible and to pretend I will get to the late game for Wall Tourism. I also like to defend as...

Settling directly on a resource or a tile with base good yield vs working that tile itself

I will almost always settle my 1st city on a culture or faith resource needing a plantation, all else being equal. If nothing else, it spares room for districts rather than having a 1st ring tile be off limits. You don't get an Inspiration or Eureka from a plantation, so often then I can hold...

How do you decide between Aquaduct and Neighborhood?

You can have Partisans spawn in Neighborhoods late game (I think via Spy Missions), so that is one downside.

    Ideal settler factory city size

Sometimes when I get a food heavy start I work 2 of the 4-food tiles and then start using production heavy tiles more at 3-4 pop. This way I get a little more Science and Culture early, and don't lose as much S&C when the pop drops from a Settler build. I commonly only build 1 Settler before the...
