this is a fun map.. i played this one twice.. the first time i just went on a domination killing spree.. not full out wiping people off the map just taking caps.. finished that on turn 214..
played again today and tried it with more of a diplomatic tactic.. first i started off by killing byblos...
- What did you think about before starting the game, what was your approach to this game?
i'm not much of a fan of these diplo games.. no matter how well i do the timing screws me.. so i am just going to kill everybody for fun.
- Did you spend much time doing reconnaissance before settling...
is there some bug you're aware of with this mod and the mongol scenario? i dusted off that scenario and found that there is no unit information on the bottom left... its just completely blank.
283 turns of peace.. friends with everyone except assyria.. stole a worker from india early on but we became friends the rest of the game.. otherwise it was fairly standard turtling, mediocre science play and nitpicky micro managing with the occasional head slapping moment like remembering you...
i settled in place and started building a workshop then iron works.. after they were built i settled on the coast near the gold.. 10 turns later i had a national college then a university..
i started with liberty production and worker and opened honor.. soon after i got a general then the extra...
i dont think there's much point in going to war unless you're going to take a capital.. you may get offered some other city in a peace deal but those cities dont compare to capitals.. plus if they are so occupied with some other civ why not just march a small army and conquer? i dont really...
almost always the problem is city size.. you're probably working mines to build things faster at the expense of citizen growth.. instead of choosing production focus and letting the game decide what tiles are worked you should manually select which tiles to work.. and these tiles should be...
if the AI is offering up a city in a peace deal you can change the deal yourself if you want gold instead.. you're very likely to get at least half of their GPT and mostly all of their current gold.
in contrast when you're in a war with an AI that outguns you and is willing to talk peace his initial demands are some of your cities.. you can simply delete the cities from trade and the AI will accept..
as for taking cities you shouldnt really attack them unless you can take them out in three...
turn 64 win..
the game had an extremely deliberate build up but once i started warring it only took 13 turns before it finished..
i like these advanced era starts.. the days ahead of it are a huge learning experience testing which social policy direction to go.. its nice to play a game...
193 victory.. owning great wall helped me not waste unit turns having to protect edinburgh before they sued for peace.. just left a skeleton crew back there while the rest of army marched thru the open borders i got from liberating orleans.. finished off paris in 2 turns.
3 city NC.. finished...
I finished off my continent around turn 160ish then brought all the horses overseas to repair happiness. Sweden built Great Wall and they fell quickly. Attila just finished up himeji castle and I just finished them off. Just Paris and Edinburgh left on turn 185ish. Celts have larger army than me...
I considered the same thing but happiness was always tentative and the AI was so backwards they weren't a reliable luxury trading partner. Without a unique luxury to settle next to I opted for the late game cities like yourself to get the coal/aluminum. Also considered it for the extra gold...
