I am disappointed in Firaxis and feel betrayed By Elizabeth/Greg

Really? You can't save multiplayer games? CivRev had the same problem and fans were quite vocal about it so I'm surprised they've done the same thing again with Civ V! It makes MP pretty unplayable for those of us without much free time.

Does anyone know what the printed manual is like?

That's a shame. I love a good civ manual to flick through. It takes me back to my first civ purchase. It was some kind of deluxe edition of civ 2, a big blue box with a picture of the statue of liberty, a big wall chart and a thick manual. Made the game seem really big and grown up and...

Things You Are Afraid About Civ5

Overall I'm really excited about the game, and I think it's good that they're not afraid to try out radical new ideas, however the two things worrying me are: 1) That the AI might not be able to handle the 1 unit per tile rule well (e.g. strategically laying out units in the best positions)...

CivRev also had an Economic Victory (get x amount of gold and build the world bank wonder), so Civ 5's 6th victory type could be something similar

Inside Gamer - new Interview with Jon Shafer, some new info!

This was a CivRev feature. It worked pretty well actually. There's less micromanagement as you don't have to build a transport & an escort unit separately and then join them together, and it makes ships more useful, as even if you aren't fighting many naval battles ships can still be used for...

    Conquest Victory changed

This is something that was introduced in CivRev. To clear up some confusion it should be pointed out that you don't win until you have captured ALL enemy capitals at once (and then held on to them all for a turn). If your capital city gets captured by an enemy your Civ still exists and you can...

A quiet but long time player's thoughts of Civ 5

I liked religion in Civ 4, it was a good way of allowing peaceful players to still get out of their cities and interact with the rest of the world. I'll get over it if, as they suggest, it's gone to make way for a better diplomacy system.

    Food commerce?

Yeah I've always liked the idea of having some resources shared empire-wide rather than city-wide. It's a simple system to understand but can lead to a lot of depth. for example you could have 'breadbasket' cities that provide much of your civ's food. When attacking a civ you could concentrate...

    Eurogamer preview

Yeah that leapt out at me too, and was unexpected. I've played every version of civ and every expansion pack since civ 2, and CivRev made me realise how unnecessary workers actually are (in CivRev you simply pay gold for roads, which actually makes more sense than being able to build an...

    Civ Revolution 2

Yup, I agree completely, especially points 2 & 3. It's a really fun game at first but the shallow diplomacy and lack of game options does make every game the same after a while (something I would never say about Civ 4!). I would also add: 4) Let us save the game when playing multi-player...

    1 Unit per Tile Rule

I love that they're not afraid to try out radical changes. As for 1 unit per tile, I think it sounds like it will make war much more focused on strategy - what units you should build and where they should be placed - rather than a 'my stack is bigger than yours' arms race. (A good thing!) Also...

    The Civ V wish-list!!!

Yeah I like the idea. They'd be like a different kind of 'goody hut'. I'd like them to act like 'super resources', so you'd have to decide whether it was worth building a city near them to take advantage of them, or maybe you'd have to rush to settle near to them before your neighbour does...

    Vassal States...

I'd agree with that; the vassal system should work exactly as it does at the moment, EXCEPT that the vassal should take on the diplomatic status of it's 'owner'. I.E. peace is automatically declared between the player and the vassal (as there has effectively been a change of government in the...

    Any Fanatics Still RevHeads?

I own Civ4:BTS and CivRev (360 version), and have been a fan of the series since civ 2, and I find myself playing CivRev a LOT more than Civ4. I don’t have that much time to spend on games, so CivRev wins just because it’s quicker, and it’s much more comfortable to be sat on my sofa with a...

Wow, look at all the bugs I found in a single team game...

In our game the techs didn't get shared between us, so I suppose it's a slightly different bug. Although maybe we weren't playing as intended. We wanted to have an 'us vs the AI' game, with the AI on a high difficulty, and no other human teams. We don't have much time to play in one...
