When to stop using settler factories?

Okay, so i set up 2 settler factories. I admit these are 6-turn ones so not the best, but it's still good. I'm now getting to the stage where i have about 6 settlers on their travels at any one time, and it's taking about 20 turns for them to get anywhere away from my main empire. I just...

Building orders in the early going

I second that. Temples and librarys are really useful in expansion because they net more territory to be worked early, and then you can just repeat this as much as possible. I don't profess to be a master strategist at all, but i would say that sun tzu's is really useful, especially if you have...

Tundra tiles .. forest or mine?

I generally forest tundras, just for the extra shield resources. sometimes i leave a few for the chance of oil later on.

    power or culture

In my opinion, culture is the most important before power in the game. However, i guess it all depends on your playing style. Warmongering means early conquest and therefore more power, but in my opinion culture can acquire the necessary amount of power and city production to make a large-scale...

    Tips about Huge, Pangea Maps

Hmm...this is very true. I guess if the enemy was pretty close to you then that would be okay, but longer distances would require something more. I'm not professing to be an expert tactician here, mayhap a switch to communism for warring would be okay? Good unit support for metropolises, and...

    Tips about Huge, Pangea Maps

The Japanese are a really good civ to pick for warmongering imho. The samurai is one of those units that improves 2 things above it's original unit, requiring only 1 resource and gaining a defense point. Personally, i'd expand as much as possible early on, then quick research to chivalry, build...

    Bombers or Tanks?

I generally use bombers for cross-continent campaigns is i have to fight, as they're a lot more mobile than artillery in the long run. if the enemy is just round the corner, then i believe artillery are easier to build and quicker to implement. Tanks are good, but they come too late in the game...

    Strategies needed

IMHO, territory expansion is more important than completing wonders at an early stage. sorry, that's just the way i see it. once the outlying cities have developed enough to be able to produce settlers for further expansion on their own, then i generally start building wonders. looking good so...

what resource can't you live without?

I generally think that i can't live without Iron. Swordsman conquest is so good in the ancient ages for me, just have to get hold of some. Oil is also good too.
