Definition of "exploit" from wiki:
An exploit, in video games, is the use of a bug or design flaw by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.
Seems to fit :)
EDIT: By no means do I intend to label Sulla a "cheat" ... I just think it ironic that Civ V...
Sulla's last game is contrived and shows the severe balance issues in the game.
Bake size-4 cities, add maritime CS food, stir and win.
If that's the way the game is meant to be played then count me out.
In most games we would call Sulla's play an "exploit", would we not?
Go back to the old CFC Civ IV forums and contrast the after-release posts there with the Civ V reception.
Critical Civ IV posts, while addressing some bugs, were mainly about SPECIFIC balance issues, not the generalized dismay I see in Civ V forums. Judging by the old forums Civ IV was...
Although I am biased - yes I think Civ V falls short - it seems the posts saying the Civ IV release had the same problems are not correct.
I went back and went through the Civ IV CFC forums posted post-release, and yes there were issues. But they were fundamentally different in that they...
It IS astonishing that the reviews were (almost) unanimously glowing, while such a large proportion of the player base is disappointed. I have not seen this phenomenon to such a degree before and cannot explain it.
Is it because of the until-now excellent reputation of the Civ series + Civ V...
My post merely intended to convey, in a hopefully entertaining way, that many Civ-fans feel Civ V has lost some of its yumminess. And even if I failed I learnt some big words.
There are heaps of threads that go into the nitty-gritty of what is good / what needs work. I didn't want to go...
Remember how Civilization used to taste?
Mmmmm, I do!
Rich, intricate flavours tantalized the senses. The interactions of myriad layers of subtle, and not-so-subtle ingredients were always new and interesting. By carefully selecting morsels each mouthful could be made unique. As I...
The first Civ walkthrough I read was Sulla's famous Civ IV walkthrough. Since then I enjoy reading about others' adventures in Civ almost as much as I do playing.
So I was pleased to find Sulla's first Civ V stories at: http://www.garath.net/Sullla
It's not altogether flattering, pointing...
Thanks Zechnophobe for the comparison.
Apologies for double-posting but this is my reply in respect to the Civ V screenshot from another thread:
"The screenshot above is without any unit selected. When there is a unit selection the bottom left of the screen is obscured, as far as I can tell...
The screenshot above is without any unit selected. When there is a unit selection the bottom left of the screen is obscured, as far as I can tell, for no good reason - for the data could simply be added to the mousover info. (And as far as I can tell there is no way to once again select...
I was expecting a sleek minmalistic UI.
Instead my view of the world is obscured by large, unnecessary swathes of cartoony colour.
I mean why would I want the bottom left of my screen to be covered by an image of my unit when I select it? I only need a few characters-worth of info (Str, HP...
Thanks Lemmy for making the interminable anticipation bearable. (one more sleep)
and bloody funny :D as well as giving a sense of the All-New-Civ-flavour.
Long live the Babberonians !!
