Nor sure if this is common knowledge or not, but you can keep spending Apostles for more beliefs until all the beliefs have been taken. You are not limited to by founding your religion.
It works like any other unit you own. The flying units are awesome, 3 moves, any terrain, great for exploring. The ranged ones only move one tile and apparently cannot swim. Those are the only two I have received.
EVERYTHING depends on the map and the civs you are going against. Spreading religion for religions sake is useless without being able to do something with it.
There is no set 'best religion' set up. We could probably come up with a 'worst religion' set up, but I bet some one could come up with...

I think they went overboard with warmonger. Just my opinion, but:
A DoW against one opponent, even multiple times should not label you a WM.
Being DoWed on should not make you a warmonger (even if it's an opponent other than above)
Warmonger should degrade to 'Aggressive' in later...
