Embarrassingly, this is my first time playing in the modern age. I play on emperor and usually get smoked by this point. How does anti-air defense work? oh, and for space race victory, do all the parts need to be constructed in the same city?

I know defending across a river gives a defense bonus, but: does it still aply if you are defending in a town across a river? what exactly is the % of the bonus? the book just says bonus, doesn't give specifics like a hill does.

really? I never really paid attention to attack/defense when I get them, but I can recall a good specifc 3 times on defense, but cant seem to remember any on attack. can u get leaders with ancient cavalry/crusaders?

Are there any hidden restrictions for a military leader appearing? The unit has to be elite and win a battle(presumably against a non-barbarian) does the unit have to be defending? does the unit have to be at full HP when victorious?

each square is limited to giving a 10 shield chop yeild once? does it work for small wonders?

Does clearing a forest you planted not give you 10 shields? I'm trying to create a bit of forest industry outside my capital to help with the sistine chapel, but it doesn't seem to be giving me the edge. What gives?

I am having extreme difficulty successfully planting a spy... I planted a spy successfully in a civ I was a war with , costing me 1300. Then I failed 4 times at someone I was at peace with , each attempt costing 90. He then declared war on me, and I tried another 10 times, each time they...

I mean specifically, natural resources. I know strategic and luxery resources can be gained by making a city on it. However resources like gold, cattle, wheat.... will the center city square gain a bonus from having such resources under it?

Is there benefit in building a town ON a natural resource?

In democracy's description, it says it increases production.... I don't see any increase while using it.... forest still make 2 shields, shielded grasslands still 1... The increased commerce is there, like in republic. ??

no great library. Its possible it was philosophy, but philosophy does that? that tech seems too good.

I dont know why but I recieved a tech advance for no apparent reason. I was portugal(seafaring/expansionist). I researched map making(presumably the first to get it), and it prompted me for my next research project, I selected bronze working(4 turns), then instantly it said it was completed...
