I haven't played the Indonesians so I didn't know about the Kris' swordsman promotion.
I think manpower should be displayed as a strategic resource. That would be a nice touch. Or at least display it more prominently than in the military overview.

But, again, I really enjoy the "random"...
I'm looking for some opinions on this, but IMO there are two *great* elements in the Civil War Scenario that I think should be main mechanics in the game.
1. Manpower
2. "Green Promotion"

For those who haven't played the Civil War Scenario let me tell you about these concepts...
Exactly. Agricultural corporations (or great tile improvements a la Civ 5) such as Monsanto, Potash, Archer Daniels Midland would be great examples of "great farmers."
welcome!
You can trade luxs for GPT up to 7 (standard speed) if the AI likes you. Most of the time I find I can trade them for 6 gpt. This helps in the early game especially if you have multiple copies. Or if you don't need the happiness because of buildings, pantheon, etc.

I would have gone Goddess of the Hunt personally. However, Dance of the Aurora is a solid choice. It's a hard decision between the two in my opinion...but when I was scouting that I was like...
"Oh...that's a crap ton of deer...and some luxs...and...geez, HOW MANY camps can you place here?!"
It wasn't me. I was playing as Babylon and India was AI. They actually did go Dance of the Aurora which makes sense in this game as he controls 18 cities with faith. Gandhi is trying for a diplomatic game and attempting to leverage his faith that particular way.
An alternative is prior to waging war (assuming you are DOWing) is to reallocate your trade routes as internal production or growth...it helps manage this and keeps them to reallocate post war.
I personally find the extra production my trade routes give help when I'm trying to push out a couple...
Do you think they would be better if they revealed larger areas and areas that you hadn't already discovered yourself? Seems like a pretty easy way to buff one of the "lesser" ancient ruins. Just an idea.
Another one of these threads, seriously?
This thread would be unique if it offered solutions...and if it offered solutions it should be placed in the ideas and suggestions sub-forum. It offers neither.
A friend of mine sent this to me today:

It's worth checking out. It's pretty bad as starts go. But three crabs can't...
Pick someone you like. Not necessarily the best civ in the game (it could be though - who cares) and then go with it.
Play down one difficulty level. The pressure to win comes off...if that doesn't work, play up a difficulty level...it will challenge you to finish out the game because you could...
