Well, that's odd. Anyway, in case you couldn't guess, it's The Safety Dance.

Interesting side note about moshing. Back in the late seventies and early eighties, there was a predecessor of mosh/slam dancing within the punk scene known as pogoing that many clubs would ban, claiming it was unsafe. Fed up with this, a young Canadian band decided to put forward the kind of...

I wasn't directly taught it, but the colour chart for the strips we used at school only went up to 14, so I long assumed that was as high as it could get.

What Video Games Have You Been Playing? Five-and-Twenty: I Used to Play, But then I Took an Arrow to the Knee

Monster Train 2 came out pretty recently, and it's one of the best deckbuilding roguelikes around. Runs are of a similar length to StS.

Which films have you seen lately? ΚΓ' - The thread is your movie hegemon.

I haven't seen the film, but I didn't think that much of the book. I really couldn't figure out who it was aimed at: in terms of the story, it felt like a lonely 14-year old's fantasy and as an adult reader it was too simplistic and wish fulfilmenty, but at the same time, it was full of...

What book are you reading, ιf' - Iff you read books

Don't know the book, but the style of the cover feels wonderfully nostalgic. The art might not have always been amazing technically (and often only barely resembled what is happening in the book), but older fantasy and sci-fi covers were so much more characterful than modern ones.

I'll take this opportunity to remind people that the reason the southern Baptists exist is that they were angry the mainstream Baptist churches opposed slavery.

[RD] Trump in Charge: The MAGA Presidency

Yeah, that's the key point for me. By default, I wouldn't mock someone, particularly an elderly person, for tripping on a stair (hell, I do it often enough, and I'm not old). But when it's someone who criticises others for similar things then he's fair game. If you deal it out, then you can take it

Monster Train 2. It's more of the same, but better. Which, for a sequel to a mechanics focused game like a roguelite is pretty much all you want.

    Newsworthy Science

Yeah, that does indeed seem to be the focus of the work, which is why I said it was interesting. So why did the summary present the idea that Asians made a long migration into the Americas as news, and have nonsense like "long-held assumptions of European genetic dominance"? (Not criticising you...

    Newsworthy Science

At a glance, it seems like an interesting piece of work, but I'm really confused by this statement: As, well, this isn't news. I'm pretty sure we've had clear genetic evidence that indigenous Americans are descended from Asian populations for quite some time now. And, frankly, even without...

[RD] War in Gaza News: Pas de Deux

And Palenstinians have heard the same rhetoric from Israelis. They've experienced Israeli attmepts to destroy Palestine (e.g. the settlement programs, which aren't "scatterbrained" but instead highly effective - just compare a map of Palestinian controlled territories from even 20 years ago to...

[RD] Trump in Charge: The MAGA Presidency

This is the key bit. It's not really about porn as a normal person would think of the term. It's about criminalising being transgendered (and later the rest of LGBTQ+).
