I voted for 5. I see that I'm the only one. It may be a bit vanilla now but all the tools are there for expansion and modding so this will definitely beat out all the old ones in the end.

Hmmm. Do you think when you have improved everything you could just let a barb camp take all your workers to not pay maintenance for them. Keep the barb camp safe, and just pop it later if you want the workers back.

It says in the manual they can capture workers and take them back to their camps. You ( or anyone else) can get them back if you destroy the camp they went to. I wonder how many units a barbarian camp can hold?

You have it all backwards. The tiles being worth less means that every tile is MORE valuable than in civ 4. Each tile will have to be taken into consideration (a lot more tiles per city than civ 4 by the way) to maximize cities. I think this is going to be a good dynamic to the game.
