Question for BE players : 'Please Wait' still so long?

Indeed, with movement animation adding the most lag (AI seems to have to move every unit every turn, some sort of 1UPT workaround to avoid deadlock?) . The really stupid thing is that it doesn't pan to the ones you can't see, yet it still animates them :hammer2: One would think pan is before...

Does anyone know when the game will drop on the 24th? (Edit: Preload is now up)

in! totally should have paid more attention to the gameplay videos. just clicking buttons! the AI process(?) seems to be the same as civ5 in that it will pound your cpu @30% indefinitely....

civIV Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

<rant> Ok, no civ5 version well into 2014... Parts were easy to port over (eg map), but I could never figure out how to get the scenario bootstrapping to work (over the base map, set units/religion/ownership...). It just always crashes and I never figured out why. If that could get fixed (I...

    Civ V start-up times

I load once, and then play till it ends/give up/forced reboot and use hibernate or sleep in between.

civ 5 hogging all computer ressources when loading

Civ doesn't utilize it like a SSD like it should (ie many parallel requests), but loading times are certainly decreased. With 16G you could use a RAM drive and put civ5 on it! Loading the RAM drive up after boot would take a bit.. but couldn't be beat after that (just sleep instead of...

How well has your country been represented in game?

I'd go to war with them as often as possible just to see this

    What if UAs were downsides?

Carthage: unfaithful mercenaries - 50% chance of mercenary unit rebelling (going barbarian) while gold < 0. Huns: enslaved Goths - allied military CS gift 3X as often, cannot build settlers. Germany: small settlements -cannot build farms till iron working. Greece: Alexander's fall - if a GG...

    The "snowball effect"...

There is the Revolutions mod for civ5. It slowed down the game too much when I'd tried it, but it's been improved since then.

    Epidemic of warmongering city states

I've also noticed this happening. No idea why, but it seems like a bug.

With Venice now in, should the Huns have been done differently?

How about this UA: "Attila's Confederation", earn "great settler" points through combat (cannot build settlers). - early game combat is essential, but later not so much. The reflects Attila's preference for alliances over territory, but that likely would have faded over time to the normal path...

Best AI ploy I ever saw.

They are certainly awesome! Though, somehow I thought they'd be upgrades of knights instead of the normal pikemen, but anyway. Mt Kilamonjaro gives a double-move in hills promo, so imagine that along with a 5 moving hussar
