In my experience, as I had that problem, I can say Yes. Everything is working fine now, never had a crash since the last (or maybe the previous one) patch, without messing with system configuration. So buy the game :) or Re-install it and patch it. Have fun.

As I said, just turn off music in ingame audio options. That will turn off Leader music too... to me was useful increasing performance, removing sluggish game after Leader contact and reducing Crashes to Desktop. Of course hope this is a problam a patch will resolve, but until then...

And what drivers are you useng, mighty tenctacle? 'cause I'm running a 6600gt and having crashes and reboots... with both upgraded and non upgraded chipset and audio drivers. I tried a lot of nVidia Driver sets, no luck 'til now.
