Okay, for anyone else who come across this thread with the same problems: The solution is for me was to go make some toast. The dvd-rom clicks, whistles and spits for about two minutes before working just fine! It's really weird, and I have to wonder just where the disks were made.

I also have this problem, except I have an AMD athlon, 1.25Gz, 1GB of Ram and a nVidia Geforce 6600 card. This is really weird and distressing because other games work without problems. I've tried new drivers, disabling microphones and other software I thought may be interfering but still no...
