This is when you know civ5 has good music

Given that I know two of the pieces on the soundtrack, I'm going to assume that they're all classical repertoire. One is Aaron Copland's Overture to "Our Town" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKimMVY7DXw&feature=related) One is Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor - Movement II...

Well being someone who's used Steam for over 8 years...I certainly understand how you would think that...because it easily could have become that. Instead, it has become the opposite of that. If you saw their improvements over the last 2 years (and especially in the last 6 months,) you would...

For instance, some of the free downloadable content might be so good that it turns into paid downloadable content (I look at Counterstrike and Day of Defeat as two prime examples!) Half-Life was one of the most moddable games of all time...and some of the mods have become well known expansions...

Online gaming is the way to go. I never buy a boxed game anymore. Too easy to just plug in a credit card number and download the game instantly without having to fret about serial codes. You make it sound like Steam is just a tiny little endeavor that will die with one suit. Steam is the...

Release Date on Steam - Caution for the fanatics!

No, it's true. I'm on cable and I just downloaded a 100MB patch (that normally takes less than half a minute) that ended up taking about 10 minutes. The only difference I saw was when I was on a college campus and it was pretty instantaneous. It's like how all of Firefox's downloads are slower...

You have so many misconceptions of Steam, it's not even funny. You're making it sound like CiV will be an iPhone App, not a video game. I'd begin ripping apart your analysis, but by your tone, it doesn't matter what I say, you obviously have something against Steam that is irreparable.

Wow, terrible luck. Not sure there was anything you could do. RNG strikes again.

TES:IV Steam's version runs better than the retail version. Retail version had lots of random crashes. Never ran into that problem. Steam does have it's compatibility issues with some games however usually these are games that are pretty old. I think the biggest issues I've heard of on steam...

Thanks a ton :) I spent 3 hours reading this one...so I have a feeling I'll have to get to it later. I'm working at a summer camp and I will be without internet! OH NO! It's ok though. I guess it will give me time to contemplate my next game.

Yeah, I figured. But now I have a much better idea of mid-game and late-game play (sorta, you didn't get too far ) That's where I mainly trip up...but I figured I'd ask you some of these basics while I was at it. Thanks for the help and congrats. Nice game.

Wait? Are you saying you want to sell, trade, or give away a Civ game? I didn't think that was possible.

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

Steam lead to overpriced impulse buys? I only buy anything that's on sale. I've only ever paid more than 10 dollars for two games: TES:IV and Lego Star Wars (complete). I also purchased the Rockstar Pack and iD pack which were more than 10 dollars, but came out to less than 3/4 dollars per game...

I'm having real trouble building an army at Noble level. I really just seriously started to read how real pros (at least in comparison to me!) do. I'm still not understanding some key basics I think. What exactly determines beakers? So you should only have cottages in a few cities, rest are...

    Achievements

I would think it wouldn't take more than a day to code achievements into the game. It can't be that difficult seeing that some indie games have upwards of 300 of them. Personally, I don't care. Some may argue it ruins the game experience, but with a turn-based game like Civ, it wouldn't...

Civilization 5 Steamworks questions/concerns for inclusion in the FAQ

Man oh man...the Steam haters are in full force. Just a question for the Steam haters...who exactly of you lot use Steam? For one person like me, who uses it extensively, some of these issues you are raising are quite ridiculous. Also, how many of you have used Steam after Half-Life 2...
