Yes, and I wonder if the game pace isn't the fundamental reason a lot of people aren't taking to Civ5 the way they did to earlier versions (personally I didn't feel Civ2/3 were particularly slow compared to Civ4...it feels like Civ5 has the slowest pace of all of them)
Um...140 years is just a little more than a century? How many years does it take before it get beyond a 'little more'?

Go to "My Documents\My Games\Sid Meiers Civilization 5\" and open usersettings.ini in Notepad. About 15 lines down you will find "SkipIntroVideo = 0". Make this value 1 (to skip the intro movie).
Was this the first time anyone has mentioned a limit on the total number of units you can have in the game? (game difficulty factor + number of cities factor + pop factor). It was certainly news to me!
