I think guided missiles are are quite useful in the right situations. As part of a naval stack they are essential: firing a salvo of missiles at an opposing naval stack will often decide the battle if you have brought enough with you.
But the best use I've ever gotten out of them was...
That's true, but it would at least take Hamburg out of the running for legendary status - as there were precious few buildings of any sort left standing after the RAF was through with it...
If that's the case then you will have to write off Germany, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark and all of Eastern Europe except Russia for the cultural victory as well, as they were all conquered by someone in the modern era. That leaves only England (w/ London) and Russia (w/ St...
Hey Seraiel! Have you tried playing multiplayer? I was getting to the point where I was feeling unchallenged in civ, and then I started playing multiplayer and it's totally re-invented the game! I've never looked back, and now I mostly only play single player games to test out strategies for...
Also, don't forget that a forge will open up the only chance to get an engineer specialist (+2 hammers/turn) early in the game!
But this works best only if there are enough extra food to support a specialist or two. I always whip a forge early on for any of my island/peninsula citys with...
I'm going to agree with everyone above who mentioned that you need to focus on siege units. Especially later in the game when stacks of doom are wandering around, the only real option is to 'throw away' a tone of cannons (or hopefully artillery!) to soften up the stack before sending in the...
Unless it's a Pangea map I always like to start a big ol' war of colonial conquest at the rifleman erra, so I'm going to go with Astronomy for the ultimate tech.

Also (later in the game) I like to...
Another thing to keep in mind is the number of extra mana resources available. You need one fire mana to be able to give the level one fire spell (Blaze) to an adept, but if you have access to two fire mana any adept you build will get the level one fire spell for free, and can spend the...
I've done some testing in multiplayer, and it appears that trading resources with a foreign civ seems to increase the likelihood that the two civs will get trade routes with each other. I traded away all my useless extra cow and sheep resources to civs on other continents and it worked out good...
