Earth true start. Play Japan. Hope when he tries to invade that typhoons destroy his invasion forces. This worked in the real world in 1274 & 1281. Arabia building Mamluks might work also as they did win the Battle of Ain Jalut in 1260, first significant defeat for a Mongol army, and...
Either of these scenarios:
1. Tito lives to at least 100.
2. Tito names a Vice-President who is to take over on his death/disability. I agree that the collective Presidency wasn't a good idea.
Not really, but for training purposes you could start with a game where only Kings and Pawns are present at the first move and a Pawn promotes to Rook when it reaches eighth rank I think I saw this in a book I read a long time ago.
I thought the vote would be 5-4. I wasn't sure which way it would go. I'm surprised that Chief Justice Robert was the 5th vote, I thought it would be Justice Kennedy one way or the other. I should know not to be too surprised as questions at oral argument aren't always a good predictor of how...
Obama has at least two ways out of the debt ceiling problem that he didn't want to use last year. I think that if he's reelected and the same problem comes up and he can't find any other way out he will at some point use either the 14th Amendment or order the minting of high value coins to...
Why should they do as they are told or leave? Who has the right or power to force them to do that? From what research I have done the answer is noone. They could stay and simply default on their debts like Argentina did or could try to pay them by minting lots of coins (only the European...
I've seen arguments that Greece would be expelled from the Eurozone if they don't do what the other nations want them to do. However I've never seen an explaination of how this could be done or by what parliament, court or group of nations. What research I have done appears to state that the...
Didn't vote in this poll because I would have voted "very rarely". Only in the most drastic cases is such a unilaterial action justified. It would require that the people doing it are being very severly oppressed (it would take near genocide to be justified).
As you might guess from my...
The choice between a Presidential/Parlimentary or Semi-Presidential system is completely up to the nation making the choice. They can all result in good or bad leadership depending on the choice of the electors.
Isn't Ellias Jaua the Vicepresident? Why should we assume that if Chavez was to die that the sucession to the Presidency would be different from the USA? What would happen with regards to the election if the death occured first is another question.
The SCOTUS is a court which has some aspects of a political body since cases are decided by majority vote. However it only gets to rule on actual lawsuits with real parties rather than issue advisory opinions whenever its members want.
It has a lot more control over which cases it will...
My opinion is that only Lincoln and possibly Washington were better Presidents than FDR. His primary accomplishments were leading the USA to victory in WWII and the establishment of Social Security. I also like that he was a stong supporter on unions and worker's rights.
