Is it time to jump in?

Cool thanks for the response. My processor is a 3.6 as well so I'm glad to know that's viable. I'm surprised by people saying 6 played so differently to 5 from the beginning (and encouraged). I read a few reviews when it was released that said it didn't add enough new mechanics for their...

Is it time to jump in?

Thanks Kibikus, good to know it works smoothly on your laptop. I'm not too fussed about massive maps. Regarding point 3, I was wondering more if the graphics style is indicative of a change of tone overall, ie they are going for a more humorous, lighter mood overall. That's fine of course...

Is it time to jump in?

Summer holidays on the way, the game is on sale with a gold edition (excluding GS, but that is also on sale), so I'm wondering if it's time to get into it. 1) Does the game feel "complete" now? Or, does it at least feel like it has new elements since Civ V? When I was first checking it out it...

    Total Warhammer

I've had a few games now. The Empire are the most enjoyable I think. Good variety and a real challenge. Especially with the beastmen now there are attacks from all angles. I like the dwarf mechanics but tbh they are far too easy. Thought beastmen was a weird choice of first dlc though when we...

Did you skip BE but will 100% get CiVI?

I wish I skipped BE and yes, 100% will be getting VI. However, I will be waiting for the price to come down and and the patches to come in first.

    Total Warhammer

Thanks, I actually got it after reading your post and have not regretted it! It is my first foray in the TW series and I am finding it pleasingly a lot deeper than I expected. the atmosphere also seems to strike a perfect balance between humour and drama, but that is Games Workshop for you.

    Culture flipping tiles/cities?

This makes more sense imo. I always thought culture flipping was a bit odd. There is no way that if we build enough radio transmitters and Opera houses in Dover, Calais will decide to become British without the French government having any say in the matter. A religious revolt against the state...

    Should units cost population/food?

I was thinking a one time cost at creation of the unit, which is not really complex. It is an army size limiting factor - something that is particularly important with 1UPT. It is also about realism - where are all these soldiers coming from?

    Should units cost population/food?

I have often thought that in all Civ games it has been odd that no connection is drawn between military units and population (save for a very high limit on number of units before production is cut a bit). In reality military units must be recruited from the population. When wars are fought...

    Total Warhammer

Anyone out there bought or playing Total War: Warhammer? I have read a few reviews that look very promising. I have not played any of the TW series since the very first Shogun, but I am intrigued by this one as I used to play Games Workshop games as a kid. One thing a couple of reviews...

New government system in civ6 sounds fantastic!

Thanks that is exactly what I was wondering. It makes a bit more sense now. Quite a radical departure from civ V, but a nice way of keeping the connection between culture and social development. I think this is one of the most exciting features of the new game.

Old timer's, what are your thoughts so far?

Civ 2 onwards for me. I was very disappointed with the drop in depth from Civ IV to Vanilla V. However after BNW it was a fantastic game. Even so, it never quite displaced Civ IV as my favourite. I found social policies a bit naff - the way your gov choice in 2000BC locked you into a gameplay...

New government system in civ6 sounds fantastic!

This is fantastic. I too missed governments, but I like that they are preserving the customisable nature of policies. Question: When you change government do you keep all the progress - ie reassign all your policy cards, or do you have to start customising from scratch? So for example, if I...

    Super Tribes - mobile game

Anyone else enjoying this excellent mobile game? It has a really streamlined but enjoyable gameplay. Any good strategy tips out there? For example, do you start by spamming units or by building up your cities? What difficulty do you play on for the best high score?

    XCOM 2

I have a couple of question. Firstly, is there a good forum like the civfanatics ones discussing game strategy? It seems a shame that there is only one thread on here and no subsections. I know it is a civ website but I think most people who play civ love XCOM too. In fact I am not playing civ...
