Great leaders are rare to me too - even though I usually have a militaristic playing style, I've never actually used a civ with the "militaristic' attribute.
In my current game I just used my first and only leader to build the forbidden palace. I'm on the biggest continent, with my capital...
eyrei - I think you just proved my point! If you have to idle half a continent of corrupt cities (or else shovel gold into them) for 150 turns before they're usefull, using a leader to rush the Forbidden Palce instead certainly makes sense. I can't imagine which wonder would be more valuable...
The only luck I've had reducing corruption is with the forbidden palace. Unfortunately, the spot you want to build it in will be the center of a big group of 1-shield producing cities. I've only found one solution to this (I'm not interested in uprooting my palace as a workaround...). You can...
Just to clarify - I said "I do this if I'm on an island". I'm the only one who can roam freely at that point (with lighthouse). It may be a bug in the game, but once I have lighthouse I can travel freely in OCEAN squares, when only SEA squares are supposed to be safe!
It's funny when I...
Yes, what shirleyrocks just said. There's an "active" button. If there is a number in brackets that means that is the number of years left in that trade, and you can't select it. All the others you simply click on and that trade is put on the table. Unless a new arrangement is made, or the...
The amount the AI will pay for your maps is directly related to what that AIs most current map is (and what they have available to pay with of course).
If you're giving any new information, even if it's a few newly uncovered sea squares, you'll get something for it.
You can make a...
I agree - you should get a message telling you which trades have passed 20 turns.
To go one step further from your tip - you should re-finance ANY trade that has gone past 20 turns:
- If the AI doesn't like the current deal it will always cancel on turn 20.
- This means that the AIs...
Here's a copy of my reply to someone asking the same question elsewhere:
I haven't had any trouble getting any enemy units to leave my territory and there IS a consistent way to do it.
First, you don't use the dipomacy screen - you right-click on the enemy unit that's in your territory...

First, you don't use the dipomacy screen - you right-click on the enemy unit that's in your territory and ask them to leave. The other civ's leader will pop up and say that of...
