Oh no! Steam records my user data, big deal. Google records user data as well, lets using something else! But wait, Yahoo does it, Microsoft does it, Ask does it. The list goes on. Why do people want to be so protective about their playing time being recorded? It's not like Valve wants to sell...

Face it: the era of the CD key is dead. Keygens are on the Internet days or weeks after release. This means that the dev loses money = no more games. Steam removes CD keys (though you can still activate a game with them) thus removing a large hole in the system.

There's a way to put 2 people on different computers on Steam at the same time FYI.
