i tried to dl a new driver for my nvidea card but the screen still goes black after the intro movie. what can i do to fix this?

When i start up civ 3, the introduction plays fine but when it goes to the main menu, my screen goes black. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or where I can find help? I need my civ back! Thanx
