No the fact that when I plan to go to war I use strategy. Attacking as many cities as I can in a single turn. I've been in the Army now for 13 years so I'm all about the combined Arm's aspect. Offshore bombardment, Bombers/Arty first before sending in the tanks. Its not like I'm rushing up...
This is the sole reason Civ IV has allready joined the graveyard of "Never to be played again." It sits next to Dawn of War, Guildwars and Spell Force.
Back to Civ III, BF2 and Silent Hunter III until they can get this issue and many many others taken care of.
Not really a fair comparison since your talking about two forces that had equal tech on the ground. U.S. only had Air and Sea superiority.

You sir have just hit upon my biggest gripe against the game so far. Lost two gunships and a tank vs a Longbow unit. Pointy sticks flying through the air at metal, some of it inches thick...
