    Do you see transgendered folks as female?

    So far, I don't think I have thought of MtF transgender people as "actually female." I have never really gotten to know a transgender person though.

    1=.999999...?

    Hey, that's Z mod 2 (3 = 0). 1+1=0 1+0 =1 0+0 =0 0+1 = 1.

    1=.999999...?

    You are on to something here. I think there is a way to do it all with "infinitesimals." I saw a professor prove theorems with them once. It adds a lot of a different sort of complexity though that I am very unfamiliar with. This wiki page might cover it...

    1=.999999...?

    Your attempt to constantly think of numbers in a physical sense baffles me. They are abstract concepts, that can be applied to reality, but are not necessarily representative. They are born of axioms, not empirically studying the world. The fact that the numbers 1,2,3,... (the "natural numbers")...

    https://www.calvin.edu/~rpruim/courses/m361/F03/overheads/real-axioms-print-pp4.pdf See distributive property (axiom 3 in "operation axioms.") Let's go through the logic. A number 4.556 = 4 + 5*10^-1+5*10^-2+6*10^-3. 5*4.556 = 5*(4 + 5*10^-1+5*10^-2+6*10^-3). Now what are these numbers 10^-1...

    1=.999999...?

    For everyone arguing that .9999... != 1, do you agree that the limit as n-> infinity of the sum of the sequence 9*10^-n =1 ? (n = 1,2,3,...) (This series is 0.9+0.09+0.009+...) If so, what does .9999... represent, if not this limit?

    1=.999999...?

    I see what you're saying here: It's not immediately clear that a*lim(f(x)) = lim(a*f(x)). This is like saying it's not immediately clear that 5*.999... = 4.999... However, if our function is sum(9*10^-n), n = 1,2,3,..., then it is clear from the distributive property that 5*(a+b) = 5*a+5*b...

    1=.999999...?

    This defines limits: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Real_Analysis/Limits Say f(x) is a function such that f(1)= 9/10 f(2) = 9/10+9/100 f(3) = 9/10+9/100+9/1000 f(x) = 9/10+...+9/(10^x) Then we are proving lim(f(x)) as x-> infinity = 1 So proving limit of infinite series ...

    1=.999999...?

    1 and .99999 are well-defined abstract numbers, as is "=" In the real numbers, 1 = .9999... Real world examples have nothing to do with this, because this is an abstract equation in an abstract system. There's no opinion involved. They are factually equal, regardless of what you think. You're...

    What Is a Violent Protest?

    I think the term "violent protest" should only be used to describe a protest that takes violent actions. Protests that advocate for violence are better described as that, rather than using a confusing term that describes something else. I'd rather English not get even more ambiguous.

    What Is a Violent Protest?

    "Political speech" is extremely protected by the First Amendment. There are forms of speech not protected. These are: A clear and present danger of imminent lawlessness (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandenburg_v._Ohio), obscenity, fighting words, defamation(libel/slander), false or...

    1 - .9999... = 0.000000.... If you put a 1 anywhere it's a mistake because there should be more 0s before that one. An infinite amount of 0s.
