So I've had this one on the back burner for... (checks last post date) almost sixteen years now? Yikes, that's literally half a lifetime gone by. By some fluke the saves for this game have managed to survive multiple transfers and hard drive crashes over the years, I recently got back into Civ2...
I remember someone who tried a rather similar project in Civ3 years ago, and I've been giving thought to trying it myself recently. I'll be watching this with interest :)
Wow, I'm surprised this is still going at such a regular pace after so long. You're an inspiration to us all, MTB!
(One of these days, I'll have to set aside a free weekend or something to catching up on this.)
'Ello ello. Figured I'd stop by and let you know you've picked up a new reader, although it looks like I'm a bit late to the main event here. Then again, it's been a while since I've been a regular on these forums :p
As someone who's read those stories myself in the past, it certainly...
It's been forever since I've last posted on these forums, but when I saw this announcement, I had to say something. Congrats on the new position, you two!
I've taken a look at the .sav for GOTM 136 to see what the strategic situation looks like. Here's my completely non-professional assessment of how things stand (enclosed in spoiler tags, just in case other people want to go in blind):
Put me down as a tentative participant, conditional on whether or not I can actually get around to making Civ2 run on my laptop.
Fortunately, I've already checked out the Tech Support subforum, so I mostly know what I have to do.
You know what they say in advertising circles: There is no such thing as bad publicity.
That being said, once I get my copy of Civ2 up and running again, I might take a crack at this game. It's been far, far too long since I've dusted off my game disc for Civ2.
Hoo boy. Been a while since I've posted in here.
Anyway, I think I know what the problem here is.
I'm guessing that whatever unit you're trying to move is already next to an enemy unit, and you're trying to move into another space bordering that unit.
Every military unit exerts a zone of...
I'll sometimes use "foul(-ed)(-ing)" as a substitute for the obvious when trying to explain certain acronyms (FUBAR, SNAFU) to people who don't really appreciate foul language.
I've also found that certain species of obscure fish have an appropriately obscene sound when exclaimed, such as...
I recently dug up my old copy of Red Baron 3D and managed to reinstall it with minimal hassle. Thing is, I forgot how difficult it is to play that game with just a keyboard. I'm thinking about getting a joystick for it, preferably an inexpensive one (about $200 USD max) that I can plug into a...
Again, I'm impressed by the attention to detail you put in your stories. There's a few little discrepancies I've noticed for certain characters' lifespans between your story and our timeline, but I'm guessing these were deliberate on your part.
Keep up the good work!
