I would say it depends on what you consider far away. If you could fit two or three city crosses in the distance, it is probably too far for a second city. If the AI ends up settling on your perfect square, you just found your first enemy to attack.

I agree 100% with Sprite. You will not get far conquering cities with archers. If you haven't found copper to build axes, wait around until you get ironworking and hopefully you have an iron resource. Actually you could take cities even easier with chariots. It will take more chariots to...

Sorry for the confusion Mulholland. I see how the save title can be misleading. That was my orginal save, and I just save over it everytime. Thats why it says 4000 BC. This actually is the most recent save somewhere around 1705 AD.
