The developers have indicated that they will introduce a new "health" consept in Civ IV. Such a consept, if properly modelled, may address this.
I strongly agree on your points on economics. Modern age economics is somewhat poorly modelled in Civ, so it will be interesting to see what they...
I really really like Pirate's ideas (and also some of the elaborations made by others)!
I have been playing Civ for like 10+ years, and Pirate solves one of the weakest features of the game with his ideas: The modern age is really not that interesting as it stands. Micromanaging is awfully...
I too think air combat needs improvement, but my ideas are a bit different.
I don't think the improvement should be made by adding more fancy units. In my opinion, the problem is that air combat (and naval combat, but that is another issue) are unbalanced vs ground combat. The game does not...
At the beginning of a war, I always use infantry to hold captured cities. I find this crucial, particularly if my opponent has a strong army to conduct a counter attack.
Later, if I gain momentum and manage to suppress the opponent down to a level at which he is unable to strike back heavily...
Are you sure about this one? I thought that it depends on the amount of pollution produced by your cities as seen from the poison triangles in the City Management Screen.

This would then indicate that the patch is out by December 6th.
I think cymru_man means that the governor takes workers from the wrong tiles to turn into entertainment. This can to some extent be managed by telling him to emphasize production, food and/or commerce.
A couple of questions:
1. What is "ping" and what does it mean to have a ping of less than 200? Why is it bad to have ping>200?
2. What is a NAT router? How do I know if I'm behind such a router?
Remember, folks: Economics is not only about cash (or gold, which is the Civ representation of cash). Economics is about making decisions under scarcity and uncertainty, and that is IMO a very important part of the game as it stands.
An example: Deciding which tiles to work around a city is...
Exactly. And also, the Vikings are militaristic, which means that their success relies on combat, and on an archipelago map it might take a long time before they find someone to fight.
I guess we'll have it here by the end of November, Taggis. Scandinavia will probably be among the first in Europe to get it, since we just import the American version without any translation.
