    BTS 3.13 a DUD

Did this, brought it all the way down and all the way up (with the br 1.05 patch). Things seem to work OK for the moment, and much less choppy than before. Much thanks everyone!

ATTN Firaxis: New patch in the works?

Compensation for the fan base because they did *not* get what they paid for (i.e. a working add-on), and repairing the Firaxis image... Is it necessary? Probably not. Is something like this a good public relations move? Probably so... Of course, if BTS and all the patches worked...

ATTN Firaxis: New patch in the works?

Agreed as well... gotta hand it to the crew though. I mean, where else would you find a community willing to fix all these problems on their own (Solver for instance)? Still... BTS is a case-in-point on why not to release buggy code even if pressured by the gaming community to do so...

ATTN Firaxis: New patch in the works?

Agreed. Solution: (1) A really great patch that actually fixes problems rather than creates new ones. (2) A scenario that sends factions to Mars based on philosophies, a new supermodern tech tree, mindworms, and instead of alien invaders -- folks from the "mother planet" trying to...

    BTS 3.13 a DUD

Powerslave: *sigh* Yeah you caught me... laptop it is... though I had no problems before with the 3.03 patch (after Solver's fix). If you guys see anything critically wrong, I'd be more than happy to update it ASAP to get back to form. The killer is that with the Solver patch, I had...

    BTS 3.13 a DUD

Downloaded the 3.13 patch after successfully ironing out the "bugs" in the Solver patch... started playing, and at about 900 A.D. the game crashes (similar to previous BTS crashes pre-patch). So I restart. Civ IV won't restart. Gets to the initation screen, start hearing the 2K music...

    Mid-game Recession...

Good advice! I am a huge fan of REX... but I usually go for archers first, then religion (whichever one I can lay my hands on first), then currency. Need courthouses... much thanks, everyone!

    Mid-game Recession...

My only problem is that I seem to run into problems long before I get to research markets... by the time I get to currency, my economy is screaming for help (and usually markets come to the rescue just in time). Sounds like setting the workers to automatic isn't a common theme either... which...

    Mid-game Recession...

Does the number of cities tend to have much of an impact on your economy early on in the game? Or do you find this number to be rather meaningless, so long as you can quickly research code of laws, currency... This is great stuff. Much appreciated.

    Mid-game Recession...

That's precisely what happened in the last game -- long war wiping out a neighboring civ, no courthouses, and a lot of undeveloped land. Greek phalanxes though... gotta love 'em!

    Mid-game Recession...

I typically run a very expansive civ that tends to colonize as much of my immediate surroundings as possible at the beginning of the game. Right after getting into the classical era and the costs for buildings and workers -- and most importantly, an army -- begins to take its toll, I find...

    Mission to Mars?

I like this as well... and I have no problems about someone being able to build a Mars Colony separate of the Apollo Program/Moon Colony. After all, it's not as if going to the Moon would be a necessary prerequisite.
