I was getting crashes on my system (with an ATI Radeon 9800Pro AGP card) with vanilla Civ4 until I changed the .ini file so it runs in windowed-mode (although accessing the Civilopedia still causes it to crash).
BTW, let me define what I mean by "crash": I could go through the setup/game...
This is what my screen looks like when trying to start a new game.
And, if I can still see the "continue to game" button, it then renders the map like I just entered hyperspace.
Any ideas how to prevent this? I have tried just about every possible screen resolution and...
I seem to be able to load the regular/vanilla Civ 4 as well as an ordinary Warlords game, but when I try to start up a Barbarians scenario, I get to the countdown of 40 automated turns, and then my display goes haywire (vertical bars and largely drawn triangles and artifacts all over)...

Please let me know.
I'm just wondering - has anyone successfully made a "civil war" mod for Civ 3 (any expansion)?
Please let me know - itching to play with some civil war possibilities.
I agree - Exel did have some great suggestions.
I keep thinking that maybe this should be a mod worked on for Civ 3 - just to flesh out some ideas.
Like the units already in or around a city (within the city's radius or within its cultural boundaries? there's a good question!) that goes...
Amen - I would *LOVE* to play a game like this.
I think the cultural backgrounds is a good idea, but maybe just using the names of the "barbarian" hordes would work just as well. (Rome spawns a new "Hun" civilization  )
Please continue the work on this - at the very least, please...
Thank you for this!!! This is almost the sole reason that I made an acct to post on the message boards! I loved the fact that the largest civ could split in 2 in the original Civilization game, and I wondered where it went in later versions.
My thinking on this is that "triggers" may be a...
