[R&F] Civ of the Week: Greece

I favor Gorgo over Pericles, but reading this thread makes me want to try him again. I play marathon speed, so the extra culture from Gorgo's early warfare is really noticeable to me there. Gotta love the hills start bias and Acropolis, as elaborated by others. I've never really tried Hoplite...

AI great general on turn 73 with no Mil Districts. WTH ?

Ah, fair enough. Buying it with faith or gold would be my guess then, sorry.

AI great general on turn 73 with no Mil Districts. WTH ?

My phone doesn't want to open those images, but there's also a natural wonder that gives GG and GM points when it's in your territory.

    [R&F] Governor's breaking my immersion

I'm fine with them being not too powerful - more like tweaks than game changers - I just wish (a) there were more of them so you couldn't pick all of them every single game and (b) that you could rename them. Seriously, 9 Amani's bumping around the map by the classical age, so boring.

[R&F] Civ of the Week: Cree

Yea, I kind of feel that unused currency = wasted currency; if I'm not saving for something (eg National Park, specific Great Person), I'll buy stuff as soon as I can afford it - especially since "stuff now" in Civ always seams to beat "stuff later." But to each his own, I guess. I finished an...

    [R&F] Korea AI

AI Korea in my games - if I dont spawn next to them and take them out early - is always heavy on science and either going for dom VC or just aggressive because her army is so advanced compared to her AI neighbours.

Playing to have fun vs. playing to win

Tricksy question. I'm completionist enough to want a religion and at least some wonders in all my games, so I find if I go beyond emperor difficulty I have less fun because I have to fo focus too much on winning... but I don't lik losing either. Hmmm... :crazyeye:

[R&F] Civ of the Week: Cree

Cree to me feels like they're good at making the best of a bad start - dont bother rerolling - mekewaps and the first trader both come early enough to be really valuable. I underrated the grabbing-extra-tiles thing when they were first released - now I often go Pottery first and try to protect...

[R&F] Unenjoyable after Renaissance Era. Tips???

This is going to sound trite - but I find I have to make my own fun late game - mostly for RP reasons. Victoria's cultural VC slow in coming online? Focus my energy on spreading the Proper Cuppa Tea religion to the rest of the world. Saladin going for science but just found Jerusalem? Build an...

[R&F] Civ of the Week: Egypt

Well, thanks for sharing the CH spam strategy - I gave it a shot and it worked really really well - after a solid start on King I basically spent my production on districts, walls and wonders and buying almost everything else with gold - buildings, army, builders - until I got Reyna promoted -...

    Civ of the Week: Aztecs

I played 3 matches with the Aztecs after reading this thread - I had middling starting locations each time, but managed to snowball so much from the early warfare->capture builders->fast districts -> cruise to victory of your choice (even played higher than my usual difficulty level after the...

[R&F] Civ of the Week: Egypt

Ok, I played a couple of turns on Disgustipated's save (tried to upload a turn 210 screenshot just for interest's sake, but I'm technologically impaired and something about tga files - but I'll figure it out eventually.) I made a series of really bad decisions - so have to be careful not to...

[R&F] Civ of the Week: Egypt

I _hate_ floodplains - so many cities ruined by that one floodplain in the middle of the jungle I didn't see until I tried to build on it - but I played several matches with the Aztec last week and enjoyed it, so suppose I'll try to give Egypt a fair chance this week. I'll see what happens with...

[R&F] Post Spring Patch: what does FXS still need fix / rework?

Lots of good points here. I voted for AI diplomacy - because interactions with them are unsatisfactory on so many levels and I really want to have the diplomatic option to place suzerained city states under my military protection. I also picked UI (other) since I have multiple gripes with it...
