I agree. They're only useful for that single square, early in the game, just out of reach of your culture borders. Even then you have to defend the hell out of it.

Brilliant. Sadly, it probably won't increase my effectiveness, since I've been obsessively using my advisor screens anyways. I wish it had been commented on in the manual though. Thanks Z :beer:

Although I am sure this has nothing to do with getting my butt kicked by Mao, what are the numbers after the government type. eg Roman despotism (5.5.0), Japanese despotism (5.5.0) They change as the game progresses but I can't spot the pattern. Needless to say, I've seen no comment on them...
