all of the civ 4 games have been re-installed but beyond the sword is the only one thats refusing to work. i even brought another copy in case there was a problem but that was the same. worked fine on the old computer xp but having the 'failed initializing python' with beyond the sword on this...

i've got civ4 and warlords installed but i'm not having any luck with opening bts it worked fine on my other computer but not on this one. i brought another one in case the disc was faulty but even the new one comes up with the python problem when i try to play the game. civ4 and warlords play...

i have replaced the computer which now has windows 7 on it. installed civ4 plus beyond the sword and warlords. 4 runs but i can't get the other 2 to run. sorry if this is in the wrong section.

its all up and working, have just re-installed warlords so hoping that wont cause problems. cheers dave

well i got a second copy from amazon. went to install same problem with it when it got to the warlords patch it stopped installing and went back to my wallpaper screen. to get round the problem i uninstalled warlords, rebooted etc. it installed now do i re-install warlords or leave it off...

sorry didn't realise i'd posted it in the wrong place. i've sent it back now as we tried it on the other comp and it install on there either. cheers dave

i'm having the same problem. tried to install on another comp (after installing civ4 on it) this time after hanging it came up with ERROR 1706 no valid source etc. dave

:confused: this came from amazon today. but doesn't install. it's gone through the motions of installing the patches for civ 4 and warlords and checking for directx. it installed the patch for civ4, it keeps trying to install the warlords patch then nothing the set up box goes and the game...

is it possible to add more city names to the list. in civ 3 when it ran out of names they started with new new york or brit new london. just wondered if it was possible to add more. cheers dave

can you rename cities when you capture them. cheers dave
