Global warming - caused by humans or not?

That article has an interesting point hidden in it. Warming of ocean causes an increase in the CO2 levels of the atmosphere. But CO2 is a greenhouse gas and causes warming of the atmosphere! That's a positive feedback loop. Looking back at the graph of CO2 levels in the past 400000 years, it...

    3 square cities

Not civ like just because cities in civ have never had larger than 2sq radius? Yes, cities will grow larger with 3sq radius. I used the mod way back when Civ4 was still relatively new, and it worked well. The AI seemed to be able to take it into account as well. Truth be told, in RoM it's...

    3 square cities

This requires changes in the DLL. I asked about integrating it earlier, and Zap said he's not immediately interested in it, but if one of the DLL projects he's looking at includes it and is otherwise suitable, it will get into RoM. You might want to check Mylon's Enhanced City Sizes mod...

    Version 2.x bug reports

I found a possible bug with Modern Granary and Pyramids. Modern Granary is supposed to upgrade Granary, but if you also control the Pyramids, you can have both Granaries in a single city, for double health bonus and 80% food stored after growth.

Global warming - caused by humans or not?

This one. The number I used is close to the cleanest cars, while the dirtiest are almost 5 times as bad. Yes, history clearly shows that cycles of warm and cool periods are a natural occurrence. But if we speed the process up too much, can we adapt to the changes fast enough? I wasn't so...

remove global warming as an option

All right, let's take this discussion elsewhere and keep this thread on topic.

Global warming - caused by humans or not?

Started in another thread: B. From my hat as I said ;) The number of cars and amount of driving are guesses, emissions came from googling for "car emissions". C. Sure. 1 teragram is 1012 grams. 1 billion is 109. 20 km/day times 100 g/km makes 2000 g/day (i.e. 2*103) for a single car...

remove global warming as an option

According to Wikipedia, Volcanic activity releases about 130 to 230 teragrams of carbon dioxide each year. Pulling some figures out of my hat, let's say that there are one billion cars in use, each being driven an average of 20 kilometers a day, and emitting 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer...

    Building shaft mines

Without Steam Power you can't build shaft mines at all (but mines can still turn into them). Even with it you can't build them everywhere though.

    Building shaft mines

Sometimes I'm able to build a shaft mine directly. Sometimes I need to build a mine and wait for it to grow. Anyone care to explain the logic? Something to do with mineable resources perhaps?

    Unit strength overhaul

I am aware of that. However, Urban Tactics is considerably weaker than City Garrison. First, it requires Combat 1 and either City Raider 1 or City Garrison 1. Since Mech.Inf can't get CG, that means you must waste one promotion on CR1, which has nothing to do with defending. Second, UT gives...

    Unit strength overhaul

Well, true. I tend to get past that age without fighting much, so I haven't thought too much past getting an archer or two in each city. Now, looking at the XML files (at work again, so no game), the early mounted units only have an attack bonus against catapult/trebuchet, no defense bonus...

    Unit strength overhaul

I'd like to point out an issue with defending cities. There seems to be a lack of a good all-around defense unit in the late modern era. Mechanized Infantry is a tracked unit and thus can't get City Garrison promotions, which makes it seriously underpowered against contemporary attack units...

    Late modern era defensive gap

I was under the impression that the major overhaul was already don in 2.6, but apparently fine tuning is still going on. Thanks, I'll post in that thread.

    Late modern era defensive gap

Mechanized Infantry has been moved to Tracked Units in RoM. While this makes a certain amount of sense, it disallows the City Garrison promotions for it. A Modern Infantry with CG31 has a strength of 87.5, while a Mech.Inf with Combat 3 is only marginally better at 91.0. These will be further...
