I think I may have started on thread on this a few months ago but.... I am trying to beat the AI on deity, large map. Somehow I think that if I can accomplish this I will finally stop letting this game dominate my life. I'm almost there but even if I do it, I am left with the sinking feeling...

i had been playing civ 2 on and off for a few years before, quite recently, finding this forum. in that time i had managed to win on deity albeit not before the year 2000 and i never bothered to do anything but conquer the world (the spaceship thing never appealed to me, though maybe someday)...
