The culture cost for existing cities does get reduced. I nabbed Representation when I built the Oracle and saw that the next SP culture cost did, in fact, decrease.

I have this problem too, but I remedy it by simply elevating my laptop on plastic coke bottle caps :) The extra clearance allows the air intake to function better, and I've had no problems since, even in long gaming sessions.

A city 1N of the Marble would be a nice hammer site to pump out units, but I'm not sure our economy can handle another city after our Jumbo city.

Could Ragnar be unwilling to deal with us because of our OB with Quatronia? It seems unusual that they would settle so near each other and still be allies, unless they are coordinating some defensive city placement scheme with each other.

Hooray! Iron! How about the plains hills 1N of the settler rather than 1W? More hills in the BFC for Military/Naval production, plus a bonus hammer in the city tile.

Unless Iron is revealed elsewhere, I think we should take a gamble on the spot I've marked with a red X. 3 (possibly 4) floodplains, clams, plus all 3 desert hills (and whatever resources they may hold)

I agree with obsolete on Iron Working before Writing. We are settling now, so knowing the location of Iron is more immediately useful. It will still probably be a little time before we start getting Libararies up.

Then how about a Trireme in GE Farm? I just feel like there's something more immediately useful than a temple.
