    Chariot Archer - magic unit

Yes they do keep that movement penalty :( Yes the drill and shock help with both range and melee strength. Do the War elephants get the "lose all movement points when entering rough terrain" disadvantage?

    Chariot Archer - magic unit

I started a new game today and tested out horse archers again. I learned something big. The shock and drill promotions affect both ranged and melee combat! So not only do the horse archers become much more powerful, their promotions work for both horse archers and when they're upgraded to knights.

    Chariot Archer - magic unit

Yes but the horse archers real strength shows when You can bring 2 units down to half health and mop them up with Your horsemen. Horsemen with horse archer have no trouble even facing armies of spearmen.

    Chariot Archer - magic unit

I agree with most of what You said, but alot of it depends on what game speed You pick, and whether Your going for the domination win. I recently played a game on marathon speed and my horse archers owned all. My horse archers were level 10 before facing anything stronger than a swordsman...

    Chariot Archer - magic unit

I believe another poster affectionately referred to a horse archer with that set of promotion as... The Minigun Chariot!

    Chariot Archer - magic unit

I think they are very under estimated. Both for the reasons You mentioned and... If used correctly they will take no damage and easily get huge amounts of xp, because they don't need to stop to heal, and they don't become obsolete until You get cannons. One of the main reasons they don't...

    locating original capitol

Their capital could be covered by the fog of war. Anytime time a capital is captured, their next best city becomes the capital, so they will always have a city with the little star next to the name.

    Liberating cities?

What does liberating a previously conquered civilizations city do? I've tried it with city states but not actual civilizations. Also, is it worth it?

How many obsolete units needed to kill a rifleman?

I surrounded him with 2 trebs 1 Knight 1 Longswordsmen 1 swordsmen 1 horsemen and 3 horse archers. The horse archers all hit 0s as i expected, but the trebs hit 5 and 3 then I finished him off with my longsword. Now I have to take care of all all those huge cities he has from steamrolling...

How many obsolete units needed to kill a rifleman?

So I'm going for a domination victory and Bismark got enough ancient ruins so his warrior became a rifleman. I've killed everyone else on the continent, but I'm still only at the point where I have knights and longswordsmen. I'm wondering how many units would I need I need to kill the...

AI has Rifleman in the classical Era!?!?!?!?

So I just went to war with Bismark, I brought a warrior, 2 Immortals, 2 Chariot Archers, and a Great General. After taking his closest city, I lost 1 Immortal, and He lost 3 warriors and a Archer. The next turn, A german rifleman steps out of the fog and decimates my warrior! I assume this was...
