is songhai's ub supposed to work with religions that improve temples?

Are you sure that the city you were trying to build it in actually had the religion you selected? For example, you may have your religion setup in the capital, but you may have been looking at a city that did not yet have the religion, which means they don't yet get that +2 happiness.

    Pledge To Protect

"Uphold" simply means that when the AI attacks one of your CSs, you actually respond with the "You'll pay for this" (or whatever the response is) and thus willing to incur that diplomatic hit. As far as I know, that's the ONLY way that "Pledge to Protect" even affects the game. In the real...

    Pledge To Protect

I think the Consolates overpoweredness could just be solved by making Pledge to Protect actually mean something, instead of something you spam with almost no consequence. Just make it so that if you fail to uphold a Pledge to Protect, that CS will hate you (let's say, your influence is directly...

    Fall Patch changes discussion thread

No, if you have 5 trade routes with CS, each city with a Hanse will get 25% (5 trade routes x 5%). So a 25% boost in those cities. Number of cities and number of Hanses is irrelevant.

    Immortal Domination

Hmmm... I guess that might be a problem for me. I've never actually gotten a civ to attack another civ (though frankly, I haven't tried all that much), but if I really want to bribe them, I guess that would take money... which I am always in short supply of, unfortunately. Hmm OK. Yeah, I...

    Immortal Domination

I'm having some problem with Immortal Domination. For reference, my skill level is generally: win Emperor every time and every victory condition, win Immortal most of time but only Diplo/Science. So anyway, I'm trying to hone my skills on Immortal and playing with a powerful domination Civ to...

What CIV could learn from SETTLERS OF CATAN and VICTORY POINTS

The game already has "victory points" -- just disable every victory condition except Time. Your score is made up of many components -- population, land, technology, social policies, wonders, and a few others. Those factors pretty broadly encompass the "greatness of your civilization" and makes...

My Culture Victory feels more like Diplo Victory than Diplo Victory does

I'm playing Sweden on Immortal trying to get a Culture Victory. I find that I'm actually bending over backwards to be diplomatic with everyone to maintain that 25% open borders bonus and to not have them DoW on me (so I can keep my diplomat, open borders, and trade routes). Also because I'm...

    Slowing Down Diplomacy Victory

First of all, I'll say that I seriously think that Diplo. victory should actually primarily involve Civs rather than City-States... but I guess that might be too much of an overhaul of that victory type. So excluding that concept, here's what I think: It would be interesting if CSs didn't vote...

AI's totally backwards Great Person priorities

Wait a minute, there's no way that academies break even after 30 turns. A very rough heuristic is to bulb everything after Scientific Method (note: opinions vary). No way that would be the heuristic if you could make back your bulb in 30 turns with an academy. You'd be placing academy nearly...

The Diplomatic Victory needs to be changed.

I think if there were only two candidates for World Leader and every civ had to vote for 1 of the two candidates, it'd add a bit more diplomacy to it. For example, only two candidates are in the running for world leader (determined by UN delegates in the normal way, #1 and #2). Then from those...

    Luxury Resource Price?

Yes, 240 golf is the standard now, which makes sense as luxury resources only give 4 happiness instead of 5. (So the rate is still the same -- i.e. 60 gold per happy face)

Avoiding the "warmongering menace to the world label"

When you generally make insults to them or respond in a negative/threatening manner to them, does this affect any OTHER civ's perception of you? (For example, if they say "you're settling too close!" and you respond "Deal with it!" or something like that) I wonder because armed with the...

civ 5 and civ 4 my conclusion... different games

    1. Not sure what you're trying to argue, because by this kind of a metric, EVERY semi-major modern PC game is "glitched"... I mean, like, EVERY single one of them. 2. I, in fact, have had almost none of those issues. The only one I've had is a small amount graphical overlay issues, but that's...
