I don't think the Turks being on the map at the start of the scenario is the problem. In the 600 AD scenario the Arab and Tibet rise and expansion areas are on the map right from the start, and in the 1700 AD scenario Germany has it's rise area even though it's on the map at the beginning of the...

I've looked at 1.17 and seen that the Turks had an expansion area back then, encompassing the Levant, Anatolia, and Persia. If it's completely disappeared in 1.18, it's likely a bug.

Civ 4 is recent in my heart.

Civ IV's Baba Yetu is a really beautiful song and my favorite, I'd follow it in close second with Civ V's Brave New World theme: And Civ IV's Beyond the Sword theme: (ominous, but cool)
