Going from Civ V to Civ IV

Well I wouldn't jump right into a Deity video. It somewhat ruins the joy of discovery. Still you'll need some tips and Sulla's walkthrough is pretty good for getting a sense of how to start. Compared to Civ5 you'll have to drop a few notches in difficulty and it'll take a lot longer to...

    Why didn't like you civ5?

And I'm posting this just to make sure that Firaxis knows that I haven't forgiven them. :nono:

    Why didn't like you civ5?

Pure and simple - it was boring.Post #2 chronicles my first, and pretty close to last, game) : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=394243 And for all the reasons that Sullla pointed out.

    Civilization 5 Rants Thread

I'm probably (mis)counted in the 85%. The merging of the Rants thread put me off of the site. :assimilate: I was a long time lurker who only created an account to say how disgusted I was with Schaffer 0.5 (are we still calling it that? :old: ). I'd have lots to say but there's just no point...

Were "stacks of doom" really that bad?

I have to say there were many times that I really enjoyed SOD. Admittedly, the times I enjoyed it most was when I was up against a stronger opponent and that happened very often before I gained enough Civ4 experience. I would go on a pillaging campaign with the hope of beating them later...

Dislike the direction CIV5 is taking? Tell us how you'd do it!

I didn't read the entire post but where's the option for lightweight civ (ala Revolutions/Facebook) to appeal to the newbies and Heavyweight Civilization to appeal to the hardcore? Lightweight helps establish a brand name to new/casual gamers, and if they like/want more they move to the core...

    The best things about CiV

Hardcore or not there seems to be a lack of understanding of Civ4 and the concept of "tradeoff" and why that makes for interesting decisions. Some people just want to have their cake and eat it too.

Does civilization bring out violent tendencies?

Civ made me realize exactly why China supports North Korea. Who wants a unified Korea? (damn Financial Techer!). Sorry Civ4 reference, but you get the point. And why US protected Taiwan in its infancy and current state. And why we all like the Dalai lama. And why India's our new best friend...

    Rate Civ V

I gave it a 4. Its just boring.... http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=394243 If I was to include my sense of disappointment, I'd jump on the "1" bandwagon.

    this game is boring

Hey there! Glad you liked my first Civ5 experience! Wish I liked it more! It was both good and bad to see that most people had a similar experience. I guess now I'm just hoping that the first expansion pack falls on its face. I'm not sure the execs at Firaxis can tell what a dud it is...

    Civ 4 or Civ 5?

Civ4 is the way better game; provided you have the time to learn to play it well. What Civ4 offers is so many choices in terms of strategy, victory types. Even the combat, which is the single biggest complaint (SOD) is pretty exciting althought it does get less interesting once you've mastered...

    Worth Buying?

I found the game to be exciting and intriguing...for the first 3-4 hours. After that it was tendious and boring. Its like your Dad, the king, went off somewhere and left you the keys to the army just as you had your first peasant rebellion. You get excited because, being inexperienced, you...

    If Civilization was food ...

CiV is like a genetically engineered strawberry. Looks big, juicy, red and delicious. When you bite into it you're like "where's the taste?"

    this game is boring

Great, more on the fact-opinion thing. At what point could anything, anybody says become a "fact" that would satisfy you. Can we go with a series of polls? "Worst Civ ever poll': Civ5 took it with 43.88% despite the fact that Civ Revolutions was also a selection (27.92%). "Which game do...

    this game is boring

Wow, this fact-opinion thing is really a drag. I must say that when I started playing CIV and CIV BTS there's no way I'd waste my breath convincing some hater that it was a good game. They simply didn't *get it* and that was fine, i was too busy (and sleep deprived). CiV supporters keep...
