I've noticed that the only percentage modifiers that apply to yields in individual cities in Civ 6 are those provided by Oxford University (+25% research in city), and the Ruhr Vally (+30% production in city). All the other percentage modifiers (mostly provided by goverment policies) apply to...
Cuirassier wars are the most reliable in the game because they can be obtained so early and allow such a large attack window, even on low commerce maps. The key is obtaining MT via the double great scientist education bulb, and picking it from liberalism (which can also be bulbed but requires a...
@ M3dge: Part of your post hints at a lack of 'rush recovery' skills. If you're taking over your entire continent you have to be careful - a drawn out war or wars will require you to waste hammers on units when you could be spending them on empire development. Taking on too many cities with no...
Military Tradition. Can be obtained very early via bulbing education and teching nationalism+liberalism. Unlocks cuirassiers with gunpowder, 12 strength 2 movers that ignore first strikes and walls/castles. Easy to attain 2 promos out of the gate with barracks+stable/theocracy/settled gg...
I'd love to see a 'split' combat system (homm style) - armies on strategic map, combat done with 1upt on procedurally generated grids representing the area of engagement. The AI can then also be fully split into two - strategic for the main civ management, and tactical for the combat maps. This...
Do you love Creative Assembly's classic strategy game Rome: Total War? Are you looking forward to Total War: Rome 2? Or do you just enjoy a good old Praetorian stomp on Civ 4? If so, I have a challenge for you... Rome: Always War.
Earth18Civs map. Always War. Deity difficulty and normal speed...
A normal longbow with a chance to retreat would still have little use on the attack.
Much better would be an 8 strength longbow with no inherent city defence. Bit like an early musket that's unbeatable on hills.
One shock promoted cuir as a stack defence/field cleanup guy is fine but be careful not to overdo it - shock is often unusable against cities as CG2/G2 longbows will nearly always be top defender against shock promoted cuirs. And if you do get a pike as top defender the benefit of shock is...
Not sure you'll get a good attack date without cottaging your capital, getting Math early enough from trades is not exactly reliable even on deity, and construction always takes a little longer to tech than you think it will.
Also, that granary micro is not perfect, you want to be hitting 50%...
It's between Gandhi and Pericles, and I vote Gandhi. Better starting techs, best unique unit, and his ability to swap in and out of caste/slavery and nationhood/bureaucracy for free trump cheap libraries and border pops. Lizzie is pretty decent too.
Settling 1E for much faster workboat deserves a little consideration. I'd move the warrior first and see if there's anything on the unrevealed E-SE tile.
After Replaceable Parts windmills become 2/2/1 and 1/3/1, then gain more commerce with Electricity. Also, they can unlock the financial bonus on riverside, and are better in golden ages. Either way often better than mines later on.
