T98 Science Victory with Cooked Settings

Very nice thread indeed, it's funny to see how a remote settlement in Siberia may accelerate exoplanet exploration, ah well

    SGOTM 01 - V Q

Lurker comment: Great game guys, just a reminder, You can't form a permanent alliance if you or your partner is first in score, therefore, a PA is impossible in this game if you are also shooting for a domination win, you'll get "You are too powerful for us" crap

    Specilist Stragety Help? Advice?

Balance GPP in many cities is less efficient than a single GP farm city, again, lots of GPP are wasted, the effect of national epic is weakened. During the progress of the game great people are less and less effective, let's say you get your 10th great scientist in 1900AD, he will be pretty much...

    AI reading history ?

AI is nothing but codes I am sure they don't read they just following the algorithms which has some random numbers throw in the mix.

Okay I did some "in-depth" analysis, In ancient times, most cities are limited by happyness or health, so you can only have a size x city at a given time. Let's say you have 3 citizens ready to work for you and you have three "vanila" grassland tiles. If you put cottages on all three...

    SGOTM 01 - Team One

Hi, lurking here for a while, nice play guys, I agree with Mutaneer permanent alliances can be tricky, in my last game I was aiming for a domination and all friendly AI refused PA saying "You are too powerful for us" :( Not sure if this is gonna be a factor in this game

GOTM 06 second spoiler - everything else!

1770AD Domination, 48k score, early game I tried the CS slingshot for the first time and got it. Near the end it's really tedious with all those cavs running around.

    Trading World Maps

Your world map can worth some $$$ if you explore more than AI, get an explorer out and let him auto explore AI's land with an open border agreement, if you get optics first you can build caravels and explore oceans, this will make your maps worth a few hundred dollars. Not a significant income...

    Specilist Stragety Help? Advice?

A great people can join a city as a super specialist, he eats no food but gives lots of beakers, coins, hammers or culture points. If you have no other good ways to use a GP, it's a good idea to let him join your best city.

So what the verdict? Cottage spam or mass specialists? I am going to say cottage spam is the way to go, you don't need a financial leader to spam cottages but you absolutely need to be philosophical to spam specialists. Merchanlism is pretty useless I think, the no foreign trade route...

Best Traits for Monarch and Beyond...

when the difficulty level rises, expansive becomes better and better and industrious becomes worse and worse, financial is still the best IMO, aggressive is also useful, you need war to expand and slow down AI a bit

    Desperate Military Help

Yeah catapult is the way to go, they can bomb down the city defence, and then you suicide 1 or two to weaken the whole enemy stack, and finish them off with axe and swords, if the opponent doesn't have copper or iron, pure axe/swords will do if you can't wait to have catapults

    Wow holy city rocks

I have York as a holy city of confusium and taoism, the city generates 100 gold per turn on a 20% tax rate, this city alone covers almost all my expenses, confusium also gives me two friendly civs, the rest can go to hell :crazyeye: My waves of missionaries finally paid off I guess. this...
