The game is at 3.17. The link on Gamespot for the 3.19 patch is broken and has been for some time, according to the comments on that page. Guess I'm SOL for the patch. And a BIG THANKS! everyone of your help. At least I can play the game now. :D

Thank you for the welcome! The Civ4 version I have is the CD version. After searching some more online yesterday, I found some other references to problems when mixing CD versions and download versions. My next step is to get the download version of Civ4. I'll post here again if that...

I have Civ IV (with patch 174) installed on Windows 7. It runs fine with no problems. I purchased the download versions of Warlords and Beyond the Sword add-ons from ebgames. When I attempt to install Warlords, I get the error "A compatible version of Civilization IV has not been found"...
