How long should I wait on buying civ 5?

Multiplayer is in shambles. It's doubtful they will or can ever fix it - I imagine doing so would bring them severely overbudget. Wait until it's at bargin bin prices, like less than $5 just to see the game for the hell of it.

Do you think Civ V is doomed?

Expansions to fix it means paying more money. No thanks.

Do you think Civ V is doomed?

Doomed, like the rapture in 2012 standing in the lake of fire with no pants on and the Antichrist pointing his finger laughing at you.

    The Final Analysis?

Each new city should take a fairly significant amount of investment to start, more than just building a settler unit. Gameplay or balancing aside, it just seems better for the immersion factor, rather than this ICS throwaway city style we have now. So basically, a more hardercore version of Civ4...

    The Final Analysis?

I've enjoyed using that strategy as well. I pretend they are like massive hordes of zombies the enemy is forced to destroy, lest they and their cities be infected. Muhuhahaha :crazyeye:

    The Final Analysis?

At least EA had the mind to call it Societies and not 5. It was clear from the start that it was going to be a casualized title, and not a true sequel though. Most likely done as a test to see if the SC brand still had enough pull to cash in with cheap development. Not sure about sales figures...

    Jon Shafer leaves Firaxis!

$4 Civ DLC is just shameful. The suits at T2 have driven their sick and stained hands into the franchise.

    Jon Shafer leaves Firaxis!

Obviously the goal of CiV was to expand the audience, streamlining it extensively so more casual players could enjoy the game without getting confused about what to do. IMO a better way to go about this is to leave the options and choices available for the advanced players, and just automate or...

    The Final Analysis?

At this point I think it would be best to just limit everything. Seriously. Maximum 5 cities per civ (conquered cities must be destroyed), 10 pop each, and 30 units on Standard map size with double these figures for Huge. That solves ICS, carpet of doom, and gives the AI an easier time at...

    The Final Analysis?

How do you think it can be fixed though? Anything short of revamping the game's core mechanics would only seem to be a splash of paint to cover the flaws. See the latest patch on how they are going about this. Yes maybe they can "fix" the flaws by nerfing things but in the end would it really be...
