    GOTM-1: Closing Spoiler

I knocked off the Greeks just before 500AD. Finding the rest of the contintent empty, I just expanded and built up my cities. Once I made contact with the other Civs, I had a huge tech lead and no one tried to push me around. I continued to push to maintain my tech lead, and when I built the...

    What can AI see?

Yep, I've had the same thing happen. Do we have solid evidence the AI cheats with regards to information?

CivIV Quick Start – A dominant strategy emerges – Chop Every Tree (CET)

Yeah, but how essential are those health benefits really? Playing on the higher difficulty levels where you don't get as much base health, you need the early boost from chopping more than ever, IMO. I'm also very underwhelmed with lumbermills, and almost always find it better to build mines...

    Help on Diplo Wins?

I've gotten +8 due to religion before when playing as America early in a game on Emperor. That's fairly uncommon though, in my experience.

Beeline to Alphabet? Makes no sense.

If you have writing and are building the oracle, I'd get theology considering how much more expensive it is to research.

Advantages (if any) of founding city on river?

It can help early if you don't have roads to resources that are also on a river. Also, the +2 health bonus helps a little in some cases.

    I finished!

It saves every few turns and uses the year as part of the save name, so you may be able to still find it depending on how far along the other game went. Worth a shot...

Is wanton agression the only way to win?

I'd suggest trying to keep defenses up so your territory isn't as tempting. That, and watch who you have agreements with to try and reduce other civs getting upset with you. At noble they won't be as aggressive, so as long as you aren't completely skimping you should be OK.

    New worker chop strat!

You can't chop in your opponent's territory. Best situation for aggressive chopping is when they just establish a city and it hasn't expanded its borders yet. Of course that's when you can't just demolish them. :) A forest may give a health bonus, but I've never needed a health bonus that...

    Is this an Exploit?

By switching to settler for each chop, you can be on the settler for its last turn only because the game saves partial production. If you chop enough so that the overrun is enough to create the settler the next turn, there's no difference.

    Is this an Exploit?

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to make food going toward settler/worker production optional. I think I'd find restrictions on where I can allocate my chops/overflow hammers to just be annoying. Yeah, this would result in being able to expand without slowing the growth of your city...

    Is this an Exploit?

I just checked, and it appears that the game will reduce production from the forests somewhat, but not completely. As India building a temple, the first forest is 60 instead of 30 as expected, but the next one is 45 even though I won't use any of it toward the temple. I think this is a bug -...

    Is this an Exploit?

If this is a bug, then is it a bug to chop when there is one turn left to build something so you get a big overflow and can allocate it against a settler/worker all at once the next turn? How about if you partially chop several forests, then start producing a settler, finish the chop...

    Is this an Exploit?

It's not even really a lag issue. Shields and research aren't the only things that you don't lose - partial work on improvements are kept as well. If you have a worker who will finish chopping a forest next turn, and they have already moved this turn, you can cancel the action, and then do the...
