I've been messing around with chatgpt some more. We know first month sales were about 1mil on steam, and about 1.8mil total according to:

Feels about right given the 3mil cap we...
You don't need a lot of sales to get into the top 100. We literally calculated in the other thread that for the position in got to relative to maneater, it represented about 3,000 DLC sales in a week. Thats a spike in sales from their baseline sure, but it's still loss making. Their staff levels...
This is a thread asking for opinions on Civ switching with an explicit option for players who would can't play it because of it.
If you don't want to see criticism, you have the free choice to go to threads that don't invite those opinions in, or just close your eyes or something.
Agreed. The recreating history directly angle was how the scenarios were built, but they were never the main way people played.
The main game mode I completely agree with your take on - it's like super smash bros but with historical empires and their leaders
In that case though it's an emotional response also to enjoy the game, in the same way it is to not, so it's a redundant thing to be raising as a differentiating factor for how people have responded to disliking Civ switching.
The laughing was a meta response to the criticism that disliking Civ switching is an emotional response, rather than evidence of emotional response to Civ switching itself.
I think it comes down to whether you view subjective preference as emotion driven or not. I personally don't think...
Immersion =/= historically accurate i'd add.
Immersion is about plausibility within a fantasy concept. Civ previously has been about all the significant civilizations in real world history being plucked out of time and faced off against each other, reset back to the end of the stone age in 4000...
I was just checking out the sources in @stealth_nsks AI query too, and theres a smoking gun in there for me.
Its the first time I've seen the first week Famitsu figures. Playstation and Nintendo have such a monopoly on consoles there, and the total first week sales were just over 6000 (majority...
I thought I'd give it a go to
My prompt:
How many sales of civilization vii have been console sales?
Response from chatgpt:
Righto! Let’s take a proper look at what we know — in a refined English accent, naturally:

### 🎮 Civilization VII Console Sales Estimate
**Overall sales**...
So I disagree - I think the maths doesn't bear out that it's a statistical error.
Looking at the steam stats for maneater, before the sale it was getting 100 or so concurrent player peaks. It seems to go on sale every other month. I doubt even 5% of it's sales are at full price at this point...
But that 3100 figure assumed all Civ VII units sold were DLC at $30 too. I'm not overly familiar with Maneater or it's fan following, its a game from 2021, so it feels unlikely it has a high base sale rate outside sales, but certainly some will have come before the latest price drop, but not...
Yeah it's a little weird isn't it. Something with gamalytics data isn't adding up when you compare it with the steam store data. Either it's underestimating maneater sales or overstating Civ VII sales, or both. It especially does not make sense that the sales levels are as gamalytoc lays out of...
