I haven't done much modding in general, let alone Civilization. However the map editor with the Civ games has allowed me to play with some custom games. In any case, I got this idea when looking at the different world type options when creating a new standard game. The desert world option...
I would like to add a quick update. I started a new game on a standard map and I think that was my big problem. With the Cat 4.12 drivers and Anti-Aliasing turned to 0, the game runs smoothly. I think there was just a problem with playing tmy old saved game. The next step will be to play on...
I'm trying to get an idea of what exactly this helps with and what it doesn't. For any of those changed ack to 4.12 and the lag and load times improved, what RAM are you using and what page file. Mine:
RAM: 512
Page: 2GB-4GB Dedicated Partition on seperate physical HDD
Although the 4.12...
I havne't played the game long enough to test the CTDs and reboots, but so far this has NOT improved my load times or game lag at all. Oh, well, guess I'll still have to wait for a good patch or a new computer.

My Setup:
Athlon XP 2500+
nForce 4 Chipset with Sound
ATI 9600 Pro (Omega 4.11b Drivers)
At first I was noticing a very, very minor hiccup in the intro movie, but after switching to old Omega drivers (4.11b as suggested in another thread) for my ATI card, the intro was as smooth as silk...
Actually I have a similar setup and the same problem (Among others like CTDs). I'm going to try rolling all of the way back to the 4.11b drivers as someone else suggested in another thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=135706
However, what's insteresting is that I didn't...
